The MC theater was designed for the theatre company MC in Amsterdam. The identity of the company was very much connected to the city and black culture. The commission was to design and build a highly flexible theatre space into a former industrial monument in Amsterdam’s Westerpark. The main approach was to design a space that was able to show a level of transparency to the process of making theatre. In order to accomplish this, a floating roof that housed all of the technical equipment with movable soundproof wall was designed.
