Building Speaks exhibition unravels the tale of how the Oude Kerk started as a simple chapel and expanded into the spectacular structure we know today. Built over many generations the Old Church is not a frozen collage of architectural intervention, but in growing and changing through time the building resembles an organism that unites past and future. One of the leading questions of the exhibition was how growth and change are of all ages, but when does a monument reach its final solidified form? Out of this design research emerged potential design spaces for the future and a proposal for an architectural installation which consisted of a mirror installation on one most recent expansions of the Oude Kerk. The public was enabled to make interventions in the spatial installations, which was reflected by the mirror installation and became part of the façade of the Oude Kerk.
