Last fall we we’re in NYC working on the Being There Art Project. The project dealt with the central question of how do human beings bear witness to one another? We got to investigate this in relation to urban space.

Place contributes to people’s identity. People make places their own in a variety of ways. Sometimes place is a sensorial experience of great impact. Place for human beings contributes to the stories they tell, to their sense of being in the world. AFARAI’s contribution to the project argues that the experience of place deeply affects human being’s sense of presence in the world. This was visualized by a series of photographic prints, video’s and additional text research. For more info click here.
